Painting Home

Painting HomeFor getting a great paint job done yourself, it is important to first select the right colors of paints for the rooms and exterior of the house. Remember all painting home tips would be inadequate if the color of the paint chosen does not blend well with the neighborhood and also goes well with the architecture of the house. After all, an old styled house will not look nice with bright florescent green. The concepts just do not gel and therefore, you can ask expert guide personnel who can give you ideas on the right color scheme. After having chosen the color scheme, you would now have to begin with the painting job in hand.

An important tip while painting the home is to first keep all the paint brushes, rollers, hammers, screw drivers and related paint accessories that you have in the centre of the room. Once you have all the things out in front of you, it would be easier to begin working rather than searching for painting wraps, drop cloths and rags once you are at it!

Of all the important home painting tips that abound us, the most important one would be to put all the furniture, walled items and other stuff out of the room. Painting an empty room is much easier with no fear of paint dripping and spoiling them. Remove things from the walls and wrap them in cloth. Now, cover them again with a plastic bag and fix them firmly with a tape. You can do the same with the furniture. If you are unable to put the furniture out, drag them to the centre of the room and firstly, wrap them with a cloth. Use large polythene bags to dress them up finally. You can use tapes to hold the plastic bags in position. Cover ceiling fixtures, lights and curtain holders with plastic bags as well. It is advisable to use painter’s blue tape around the doors and windows to prevent paint from spilling over.

Painting doors and windows are easier if you have removed the door knobs and cabinet knobs before starting the job. If you are unable to do so, you can fasten plastic covers on door hinges, door knobs, light switches etc and begin with painting the rest of the door. If you are removing the door knobs and accessories on the windows, it would be prudent to put them in a zip pouch and stick a label indicating the door or window from where they have been removed.

How to tackle the cracks and wide gaps on the walls? Should you be painting on them? Consult an expert who can guide you on how to fill the holes without seeming obvious. Some larger holes can be filled in with fiberglass tape as well. Companies also provide texturizing products that blend well with the rest of the wall after you have finished painting the wall.

Prepare yourself well before plunging into the painting assignment. Choose comfortable old clothes that you can wear during the painting work. Tie a bandana to prevent paint from dripping and sticking on your head. You can also choose old shoes that can be easily removed and slipped on while you are at the job.
