You would look forward to return to your place after a long hard day and feel energized. But, you find that your home is often dirty and you miss out on the real feel of being at ‘home’. Here, there are valuable and practical home improvement tips that can transform an insipid looking house into a marvelous inviting home.

De-clutter & Tidy Up

To begin with, a neat and tidy home that has no clutter outside and inside the wardrobe closets, bathrooms, kitchens and attic is the most appealing. So you must begin to de-clutter your house and dust way the layers of germs and fine dust that might have settled on all of them. Tidy up all the old and used toys and knick-knacks, books, papers, clothes, footwear and all that clutter that creates a mess around. You can start from each room and begin assembling things that you have not been using since the last year. Put them away in a bag and donate to charity if they are of some purpose at all. If not, the best place to fix them would be your trash bin. The stuff that you need in every room can then be arranged neatly so that they can be easily retrieved.

In the case of clothes that require a little bit of mending, it would be prudent to fold them and put them in a bag that you carry when you go out. You can give them for fixing the mending job the moment you go out. It would also be a good idea to jot the works that you have to do in a "To Do" list when you go out.

Two important areas for home improvement are the kitchen and the bathroom. Sort out all the food stuffs that are there in the kitchen. Ensure that your kitchen is clutter-free and free from any stale food. Check all the bottles of jams, sauces, pulses, grains etc. Many-a-times you light have stuffed things in your kitchen and totally forgotten about it. Check their expiry dates and ensure that they can be consumed at all. Clean up your refrigerator, throw away rotting veggies, flour dough that you have totally forgotten about and any meats that might have got stale. Take a liquid detergent, squeeze a little amount on the sponge and give a nice scrub to all the shelves in the refrigerator after emptying it. Wipe it again with a clean towel.

Repeat the same activities in the bathroom. Kitchen and bathroom tiles get dirty very easily. Scrub them away with a sponge and find a glittering tile. You can also mix vinegar in a mug full of water and use it to polish the floors of the kitchen. Spray a furniture gel onto a sponge and use it to clean up the decorative items that you have placed in the living rooms and the bedrooms. For glass top furniture items, you can wipe them with liquid soap, followed by cleaning with a clean damp cloth and giving a nice polish with some newspaper strips. You will find that the glass tops would actually shine.

Vacuum your carpet and use extensible vacuum cords to clean away the cobwebs. If you scribbling on the walls, thanks to children having their way with crayons, you can use dishwasher detergent to scrub away the stains. Rearranging furniture can also work wonders in giving an improved home.
