The first business networking tip is that you need to ensure while you are meeting someone professionally is that your conduct should be courteous, polite and absolutely professional. Always keep in mind that you should never disturb someone, should not interfere when someone is talking to another person and should never do or say something that might irritate others.
When you meet someone for the first time (who can be a potential business contact) introduce yourself but never start talking about your business right way. When you are meeting a person at a social function or even at a business meet for the first time it is better to keep the interaction at a personal level. Remember people do business with those whom they know well. Of course once you get along with the person well you can exchange your business cards with each other. Do not forget to ask for permission to contact the person in future.
There are some businessmen who do not leave any chance to promote business. But that is never a good business networking technique. Just imagine if you are at a social function or at a sports event where someone bores you with his long sales speech, how would feel? So do not let others feel the same about you. Always remember that business networking is not about selling the product, it is about striking new bonds with people.
When you are meeting someone always talk less and let the other do the most of the talking. The key to good networking is to become a good listener. But that does not mean that you will remain dumb during the whole conversation. Express your interests, answer to questions and ask questions where you think you should know more about the specific topic. Ask the question in manner that will get the man talking.
If you are attending a business networking event, introduce you and your business in brief. State the objective of your business and how far have you achieved that and what you plan to do in the next few years. Also state the reason of attending the business networking meet and what you are looking forward to get from this meet.
The last and perhaps the most important of the business networking tips is that whether you meet a person at a social do, business meet or at the golf course or at the chat room, do not forget to ask for his or her contact details and permission to contact them in future. Make sure that you keep contact with the person you meet and have business relations on a regular basis. Received total of 272 page views [id: 15890]; | |
