Travelling with kids could be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience and a vacation worth remembering. Tips on how to travel with kids will help you plan your vacation in a much better manner.

Here are some tips you could utilise on how to travel with kids:

  1. Goodie bag: Create goodie bag, carry along travel toys and games, bubbles, inexpensive art books and pencils. Set out a time limit to share games, to avoid fights. Figure out the boredom level of your kids and bring games to fix boredom.

  2. Travel at nights: If possible try and travel night where kids can sleep.

  3. Day time travel: If you have to travel during the day, plan stops about every 90 minutes. En route to your destination you could stop at kid-friendly places such as parks with playgrounds, historic monuments or view areas where everyone can get out and walk around for a few minutes. Making the kids walk around brings down the energy levels to a great extent.

  4. Music: Bring along some sing-along music. Your kids may join you when you start singing. Singing can really help to pass time, and create a happy atmosphere.

  5. Sightseeing: If your trip includes sightseeing, make sure you pack in sweaters, hats, swimsuits, extra socks and even towels, in case anyone gets wet. Kids usually when near water like getting wet; its better to come prepared or your kid may succumb to cold.

  6. Kid’s activity: Include a kid’s activity, during the day. Kid’s activity could be going out for an ice cream after visiting a museum. You could bring your cost down by keeping a watch on discount tickets and coupons like “two for one”.

  7. Get the kids involved: Let your kids navigate and narrate. If your kid gets involved in the trip, he/she will enjoy travelling even more. Older children can create written entries into a journal, talking about the daily activities and sights.

  8. Scrapbook: Tell your kids to make a scrap book at the end of the trip. Allow the kids to contribute in terms of pictures and even maybe poetry. Letting them help decorate and put the journal together is a fun ‘after-the-trip’ activity.

  9. Postcards: Start collecting postcards. Postcards are a cheap option and your kid will enjoy sending them across to their friends. Postcards also make a great addition to your family photo album or collection after the trip. You can cut them up, or even write about specific experiences on the back of the postcard. This will help everyone remember what you did and where you went.

When you plan ahead for a vacation with kids, give yourself a much deserved break too. There maybe some unexpected problems which may arise but you must let certain issues pass, when with kids.

By keeping your kids involved in the trip with various fun filled activities, the trip will turn out a fun filled experience. You just have to plan right and bring along thoughtful and interesting commodities to keep your kids happy and cheerful.
