 Tips on making a travel checklist  Making a travel checklist before you travel is extremely important and helpful. With a systematic checklist in hand, you can plan your trip well advance and stay safe while you are in another destination.

Some tips on making a travel checklist, before you travel are:

  1. Check with your doctor as soon as possible to find out if you need any vaccinations before you travel.

  2. Check out travel advice packages for the country you will be visiting. For latest updates for that country you could sign up for email alerts.

  3. Get information on the location of the nearest embassy and find out about the services offered.

  4. Make sure you travel with insurance, as insurance covers you for activities that you may undertake such as water sports.

  5. Make sure that your passport is valid and you have the correct visas for the country you will be visiting. Passport validation, for first time applicants takes around six weeks.

  6. Take photocopies of your passport and other important documents and store them in safe custody. Usually passports have a section to fill in emergency contact details, try to fill up those details.

  7. It will be beneficial, if you inform your friend or relative about your whereabouts, like where will you be going and how long you will be taking. Give them your contact number and a rough idea of your itinerary. Keeping someone informed always is being on the safer side.

  8. Take extra cash for your trip and keep some back up funds. You could keep a mix of cash and travellers cheque.

  6. Try and stick to drinking bottled water, for a safe stay. You should also avoid non-peeling fruit, ice in drinks and salads. Try to eat hygienic food and water.

  7. You must value your environment and protect it. Conserve water, keep the area clean and don’t buy wildlife souvenirs.

  8. When you plan to get back check for import regulations, import regulations could apply to plant and food items.
