 A laptop or a portable computer is the best option to store your information on a small computer. One can even stay portable with that information and that is what gives it an edge above the desk tops. Buying a computer laptop for personal or office use can be problematic as many people have an experience with the desk top but not many have an experience with the laptops. When you go to buy a laptop you must at least have a general idea about how you want the computer to be and also about its configuration .Here are a few components which are found in a computer laptop, tips when considering any of these components, and tips to buy a laptop;
- Battery - Always make the manufacturer tell you about the, standard battery usage life when using the computer in all power modus.
- Display – You can buy the display or the monitor according to your need. Generally the smaller the size of the monitor the cheaper it is.
- Drives – laptops come with different drives configuration such as, one drive bay, two drives bay no drive bay. The difference between them depends on the installations of CD ROM and Floppy drive.
- Hard drive - Hard drive is an important consideration when buying a computer laptop. Always get the maximum size of hard drive to avoid the problems of scarcity of space in the future.
- Memory – The computer laptop should have more memory. Always verify if the memory can be upgraded.
- Modem – Always enquire if the modem has an internal or PC-CARD (PCMCIA) modem. You may require all the available PC-CARD slots in the future.
- Network card – Ensure that a network card is included with the laptop. Always enquire if your network card or PC-CARD (PCMCIA) network card.
- Processor – Processor is an important part of a laptop. As there are multiple manufacturers, the choice becomes tough. Take the right decision to ensure smooth working of your computer.
- Sound card – Many computer laptops do not have sufficient sound system so they will require external speakers and head phones.
- Weight – You should always consider the weight when buying a laptop as carrying it might become a problem if it is very heavy.
- Video card – To play games on your lap top. You might require a video card and also video modes such as open GL.
The handling of the laptops is rougher than the desk top. When buying a computer ensure that you get at least a year’s warranty from the manufacturer. If your usage is more, then a lap top with 3years warranty is a better choice for you. Pay attention on the above mentioned parts of a computer laptop as they are the integral parts of a computer. And only a good quality of these parts will ensure a smooth working of your computer laptop.
