In the modern world, computer has become an integral part of our lives. Most of the business operations are performed on computer. Not only computer operations, but also personal uses of computer for listening to music, games, and watching movies etc. have made computer another member of our families. So it is very important that a computer must have the components which meet our needs. To meet the needs of the user, the computer has different accessories such as storage devices for the memory of the computer, monitor for the graphical representations, scanner, keyboard and printer, all are part of the computer accessories. Here is a list of some of the important computer components.

Monitors - The monitor is one of the most inextricable part of computer accessories. Monitor is a display device. It displays the digital information from the computer into text and graphical form. Monitor is one of the main output devices of the computer. When data is supplied to the computer, it processes it and gives an output. In most of the cases, the output is displayed through the monitor. The graphical display which the monitor provides is immensely important to execute all the operations on the computer. Monitors usually are available in the sizes of 15 inches to 21 inches. All the monitors these days are colored. Initially, monitors were made up of cathode ray tubes, but now LCD monitors have become more in use due to their flat design and low power consumption. Flat screen monitors are increasingly getting popular because of their capacity to save space.

Printers – Printers play an immensely important part in giving shape to newsletters, envelopes, and labels. Laser and inkjet printers are very common these days, but dot matrix and line printers are still used to print labels and text. The new printers allow printing in every font and allow color printing as well. Printers are used to give a hard copy of the output, generally on a paper. The output generation through a printer is however very slow in comparison to the display on monitor, but being a hard copy you can store it for future use. Printers are available in different models. Some of the printers are used for text printing while others give you a colored graphical output. The speed of printing and the quality of image differs according to the quality of the printer.

Scanners –To make the copy of an existing document, the scanner is used. The cost of the scanner has fallen down these days. They have become common and also affordable. Scanners are used to scan images and text or even an object and convert it into computer understandable digital information. Thus, by using a scanner, images can be scanned and saved in the computer memory. Later, you can have a hard copy of the scanned image with the help of a printer or you can use it as a soft copy in your computer

Modem – Modem is used to get access to the internet over a phone line. It is still very common with the stand alone computers. Modem is a word formed by combination of two words. They are modulator and demodulator. Modulators are used to encode a data in some particular secret coding and to demodulate the coded data into useful and understandable information. The information transferred by the telephone line is in the form of analog waves, whereas computers can understand digital information. So modem here is used to convert analog information into digital information and vice-versa. Modems are used in the internet transmission when it is connected through telephone lines.

Digital cameras – Digital cameras store images, but unlike the traditional cameras it stores the information digitally. It helps in loading the images easily to a computer. Images are web ready and the results are instantaneous.

Storage -Storage or memory refers to the components in the computer which are used for retaining computer digital data which is used for a certain period of time. The storage devices include hard disk, Memory card etc.
