How to buy a good hard drive?

Answer - To increase the storage of your computer, it is better to upgrade the hard drive of your computer than buying a completely new PC.

  1. When buying a hard drive you need to decide whether you want an internal or an external hard drive. An internal hard disk is directly attached to the mother board or the interface card. It goes inside the computer. An external hard disk is attached to your computer through USB or Fire Wire. Internal drives are used for expanding the storage of a single computer, depending on how many drive bays does the PC has free. Internal drives are mainly found in two categories PATA and SATA. PATA stands for Parallel Advanced Technology Attachments, and SATA stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachments. The difference between the two drives is that the SATA drive does not require you to configure jumpers and are slightly faster than the PATA drives. A detachable external device can be used in several computers and is more versatile than the internal device. There are also another category of the hard disks called the Network Attached Storage device, which allow an access from any PC attached to your network.

  2. The most important aspects of a hard drive are its capacity and speed depending on your need. If you want a high capacity hard drive then it is not important to buy a single hard disk with high capacity. This comes with a price premium, so it is better to buy two 500 GB hard disk instead of a single high capacity hard drive, as most PCs have room for minimum two hard drives.

  3. All in all a computer hard drive is the most important component of your PC. If you enjoy using multimedia on your computer saving songs, photos, movies and games etc. Then you must upgrade your Hard disk drive for a better computing experience.

You can follow the above mentioned tips to buy a hard drive when you go to look for a new hard drive.
