Sculpture art has had an intense effect throughout the ages. This art is mostly used to express the religious belief, decorating homes and the way of remembering dead. Use of this art in parks and home has become more sophisticated nowadays. This is because people want to make their home look more elegant and expressive.
Sculpture art is created by shaping any hard material. It can be stone, wood or metal. Some artist also use soft materials like clay and plastic in their art later on it can be harden after shaped. This art can also be made from rope, chain, wire and many other materials.
Formation of sculpture art requires diligent efforts and determination. Sculptor needs many material for his art such as - stone, bronze, clay, iron, steel, paper, metal, marble, wood, soap, chocolate, butter, balloons, ice, snow, and sand and many others. There are four main types of sculpture arts. The types of different arts are mentioned below along with the tips on sculpture art:
Sand Sculpture: Even though it’s not traditional art but still it is popular form of sculpture art. It’s not a permanent sculpting form. The following tips are to be kept in mind while working on this art are:
- Buy more quantity of sand than you think you need because in the end you will finish up with all.
- Make the sand as wet as possible. Dry sand will create problem while working.
- Don’t wet the sand with water as it usually dry out. You can use clay, motor oil or any other type of binder with sand for sculpture art.
- The base of your sculpture should be wide as it will help to support the top of your sculpture.
- Use straw to get the sand out of your final sculpture.
- After creating base start sculpting from top to bottom.
Stone Sculpture: it is very old form of sculpting. The following tips to be kept in mind while working on this art are:
- Sculpture art should be experimented with different stones. This will help you know which stone is better to work with.
- Daily Clean yours saw with compressed air as this will help in increase the quality of cut.
- It’s obligatory to wear eye protection and earplugs while sawing stone.
Ice Sculpture: these are hardly included in the talks of sculpture. These are not the traditional sculpture and not even permanent but these are most beautiful sculpture art. The following tips to be kept in mind while working on this art are:
- Use distilled water while working with art as it is clearer than the tap water.
- If you are not perfect in using razor sharp tools than you can use molds to get the shape.
Metal Sculpture: these are very popular types of sculptures. The main drawback of this art is that metal is very hard to work with.
- Always wear protective equipment while working with this art.
- It’s not easy to work with metals therefore its important for sculptors to take proper welding classes.
- Use plenty of chalk to design the sculpture properly.
